Job Overview: The Research Scientist will support identifying and demonstrating opportunities to enhance Conduent’s current offerings by applying machine learning, data mining, and statistical modeling for descriptive, predictive and prescriptive enterprise analytics. Conduent is building analytics platforms to support its work in transportation (tolling, enforcement), healthcare (population health, payer, provider), financial services (loan servicing, prepaid benefit cards), and customer care (chatbots). Applicants will be expected to work with a diverse set of data sources, such as time series data, spatial, graph data, semi-structured and unstructured data, and build statistical/machine-learning models in support of on-demand, real-time analytic services. Recent projects include identifying fraud, waste, and abuse in the healthcare domain from claims data, analyzing data from parking sensor, payments, and congestion to make policy recommendations on pricing, and decreasing loan default rates by intervening with high risk customers. The applicant should also have strong skills in explaining and interpreting the analytic models and outcomes in both research and application contexts. You will collaborate closely with university partners and other scientists and engineers in a multidisciplinary work environment with the ability to publish and present your work externally.
Responsibilities: ·Research, design and prototype unique models based on machine learning, data mining, and statistical modeling in order to solve hard analytics problems, where the problems may range from exploratory to highly applied. Keep abreast of the latest developments in the field by continuous learning and proactively champion promising new methods relevant to the problems at hand. ·Collaborate with university partners and other scientists and engineers in a multidisciplinary work environment. ·Work with existing “intrapreneurship” and business teams to develop and help commercialize robust models. ·Contribute to the external community through conference participation and journal articles.
Qualifications: ·MS with 3+ years of experience or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or a related field with deep knowledge of fundamentals of machine learning, data mining and statistical predictive modeling. ·Experience with supervised and unsupervised machine learning, feature engineering, and identifying and interpreting appropriate approaches through research projects, internships, and/or thesis research. ·Must be a self-driven problem solver, capable of implementing innovative solutions to problems, performing experiments to show feasibility of their solutions and working to refine the solutions into a real-world context and demonstrated experience of working with teams to solve problems. ·The applicant should also have strong skills in software prototyping and engineering with expertise in applicable programming and analytics languages and frameworks (Matlab, Python, R, TensorFlow) and various open source machine learning and analytics packages to generate deliverable modules and prototype demonstrations. ·Interdisciplinary skills: big data analytics, modeling and simulation, systems design and prototyping.
